• Below are the hourly rates for the instruments operated by the Institute for Imaging and Analytical Technologies (I2AT) in accordance with Mississippi State University's service center policies and federal guidelines. Instrument rates do not include the costs for training, operation or assistance by Instrument Managers. If your project requires manager assistance for sample preparation and/or imaging, an additional hourly charge will be incurred at the indicated Manager Rates indicated below.
• If you are a Mississippi State University (MSU) researcher, faculty or student you will be charged at the internal rates. If you are not an MSU internal customer and your project is Federally Funded, you are eligible to use the "Other Academic" rates with documentation certifying your project is Federally Funded.
• Costs are evaluated every six (6) months. Posted rates below will be in effect until 31 December 2021.
• We strive to keep our instruments in top operating condition! None of our instruments require excessive force to load samples or to operate. If you are having problems, STOP and contact one of the Instrument Managers.

If an instrument is damaged as result of any form of abuse by a user, your account will be charged for repairs

	Sample Preparation
The prices for sample preparation are calculated based on the current cost of the consumbables required to prepare the samples and the time involved. The cost of preparation equipment use is based on the cost of operation, repair and maintenance. Please call for consultation for large scale or batch sample preparation (662-325-3019) The cost for imaging is in addition to sample preparation will be an additional charge as indicated above.

"Cancellation Fee" --> Users will be automatically logged on the instrument according to the reservations made by the user if not canceled at least two (2) hours prior to the reservation. If the reservation is cancelled within the 2-hour limit of the reservation, a charge for one hour at the associated rate for that instrument will be incurred. "No-Show Fee" --> Users that fail to show for a reservation and no attempt at cancelation prior to the reservation will result in a charge equal the reserved time at the associated rate for that instrument. "Forgot to log-off fee" --> Users that forget to log-off will be charge for time the instrument is under their log-in at the rate associated with that instrument. The FOM system will send an email notification to the user 10 and 15 minutes after the reserved time ends. After 1-hour elapses past the end of reserved time, FOM will log the user off. The user will be responsible for all charges related to failure to log off.

Light Microscopy Services:

Users will be charged actual costs for supplies (per slide) and for staff time (trimming block, cutting sections, mounting, staining, processing, etc.). Contact I2AT for price quotes.

Instrument rates:

All registered users are subject to a user fee. I2AT function as nonprofit business, funding operations through fees from users. I2AT rates are computed on the Cost Principles located in Uniform Guidance. Charges to federal grants/contracts will not subsidize instruments or other users. User classes are listed below.

1. Internal – for users paying with MSU accounts (Banner).
   • MSU researcher user paying with MSU and federal funds
2. Other Academic
   • Academic users external to MSU not using federal fund (must provide documentation if using federal funds).
3. External
   • Non-Academic users external to MSU in the manufacturing/technically productive/general business industry.

JEOL 2100 - 200keV TEM Operation and Technical Fees

Because of the complexity of this instrument I2AT management anticipates the need for approximately four (4) hours of "training". Users will be charged for "beam time" and technician services during this training. When the instrument manager or technician determines that the user has achieved sufficient capabilities in the operation of the instrument, only the time needed for training and “beam time” will be charged at the combined rate. Only “beam time” will be charged if no further technical assistance is needed.
